Why break-even matters more than revenue
Total revenue feels good to look at, but it doesn't tell you if you're actually making money. A school bringing in $8,000/month against $7,800 in costs is in a much worse position than one bringing in $5,000/month against $3,500 in costs. Break-even is the number of students where your revenue and costs cross, everything above that line is real profit, and everything below it is money out of your pocket.
What this calculator doesn't do
It doesn't account for enrollment seasonality (most schools see dips in summer and around holidays), one-time costs like equipment or a lease deposit, taxes, or irregular income like seminar or event revenue. Treat the break-even number as a planning floor, not a guarantee, and build in a buffer above it before you count on that income personally.
